La posible desaparición de este centenario trazado, sustituido por el nuevo túnel subterráneo, hace de esta obra un trabajo imprescindible, no solamente por sus valores estéticos, sino porque atesora vivencias de personas, animales, máquinas y paisajes que no volveremos a ver en ese marco incomparable de la cordillera Cantábrica.
